Last night The Grates played at the Forum in Sydney.

I got to take photos while they play.

The thing is that the camera I was using wasn't the best and I only managed to get...

There's a park across the road from where I live called Morton Park.

It's really nice. It has a playground, trees and is home to the most mellow pigeons you have ever seen.

It will soon feature as backgrounds to some upcoming animations.

After 3 weeks of work it's finally done.

10 x 10 second short animation used for an OH&S safety precaution movie produced by On The Up Productions.

I'm really happy with how it turned out. I really like the backgrounds. It was originally planned that the backgrounds would be photographs like in the first one. But I had animate it all before I got any photos and offered to do the backgrounds myself, fearing the photos would match up perspective wise.

There's few reasons why I made this:

2. It's been a while since I've completed and it's nice to have my latest work not be Snagman.

3. I now have a 2009 section to my site.

I've had this prepared for 2 months now and it ironically seems kind old.

In other news, HAPS2 should be done in the next week or so. It's not terribly exciting except for me because I get paid! $$$

Long time, no post. Here's what I've been up to

I've moved from a small 2 bedroom apartment in Stanmore to a big and nice 3 bedroom house 2 suburbs over. It's so nice and cool. (let's see how it holds up in winter)

So it's taken a while to get the internet connected because I missed the first appointment. Anyway.

Went and saw The Streets last Thursday night. It was pretty awesome.

Although I think his mic could of been turned up a bit louder.

I haven't done much on the new toon the past week.

But I thought I'd post some stuff I've done without a computer. I think they dated back 6 months or so.

This first one is made from glue, paper, marker and some david jones? catalogue

it was going to feature in a cartoon i was thinking of making but I didn't really have many ideas on what go with it.

This was drawn on a Sunday when I was 'working' at Priceline Oxford St

I like it. Maybe I'll use it for a logo or something.... t-shirt?..........

The 2nd character design sketch for Hand Job

This was also made on a Sunday with cardboard, paper and tape probly scissors too. I was thinking about animating a short to the Eels song 'I like birds' Everything was gonna look all cardboardy and stuff.

I didn't end up doing it because there were so so so many other animated versions of it. Perhaps maybe a different Eels song?....

The day I did this, I only did one other thing and that was watch My Name is Earl Season 3

I did this approximately 9 months ago or something like that.

It just started off as a way to pass one of my classes more quickly and it turned into this. Which I think is pretty impressive.

I was gonna try and sell it at M.A.D gallery but they shut down and there's some new gallery that I'm afraid to go in.

That's to for now. I hope to get enough done on the new cartoon so I can say what it's about.

Exporting and Networking

A few days ago I get a message from Pavel of Junkyard Animations asking for some help exporting his newest episode of his series called "Blown Out of Proportion". He said in return, he'd help promote some of my work.

I created a poster for Snagman, see?

Here is a screenshot from where it appears in the cartoon.

Also some time last week I got bored and decided to make a poster for one of his other series.

STORY TIME WITH MOHAMMED - it's about a creepy man who reads stories to random children but always changes the stories to his own twisted version.

Here's where it appears in the movie/episode/cartoon/whatever.

So, the last few days I've been exporting his cartoon and it very funny. Probably his best work so far.

My latest work that I'm working on is now 20% complete (20.8% percent if you want to get technical)

I still can't say much about it yet but I think its fair that I show 20% of a screenshot.

Wow, 20% isn't that much. Better work on some more.

Went up to Queensland to Sunset Sounds last week. Only one word to describe it.

BEST FESTIVAL EVER.

Highlights include:

The Hives singer talking like a black preacher man.

Donavon Frankenreiter slowly being sucked into the audience.

Playing Roxanne to Santogold's DJ.

and the shark filling in for Patience's dancing at The Grates.

The streets of Brisbane smell like sewage. Other than that it is not a bad place though I wouldn't want to live there. Also, Gold Coast bus drivers are all angry and stupid but that may be all us drivers I don't know.

OH!

I released the Snagman demo a few days ago. It's only the first level of seven, each one with a different meat products to shoot. I also plan on adding more features like lives, power ups and power downs. From what I hear, the top score is something like 18,000.

Finally some bad news with progress on 'Be Nice To Your Teeth'.... turns out I can't sing :(
